EVP
EVP stands for electronic voice phenomenon. This occurs only when an electronic device such as a digital recorder picks up voice recordings that otherwise cannot be heard when the recordings take place. A digital recorder is able to pick up the frequency and by running through software can at times find out what the voice is saying. If the voice can be heard, that is defined as a disembodied voice and not an EVP.
When doing an investigation, G.P.P.S. makes sure that we have the fewest amount of people at one time on the premise being investigated to avoid contamination on the digital recorders. Most of the time we only have two people at any time on the premise if residential, more if a larger premise. Not only do we do that, we also take into account of the normal sounds of the premise. For example, on the investigation that was done at the private residence in Minnesota on May 30, 2009, G.P.P.S. had to take into account of the sounds of two fish tanks that caused noises that, from a distance and on the recordings, sounded like people having a conversation. G.P.P.S. also takes into account of the noises coming from outside of the premise as well. At the same residence, at one point in the investigation there was a little girl at a home across the street that let her dog out and she was talking to the dog. This could be heard from inside the home and could have been mistaken as a disembodied voice and could also confuse the person who was reviewing the digital voice recordings. G.P.P.S. had people outside with walkie talkies that could keep account of all outside contamination.
EVP's are not as common as what people may think. We have yet to be able to capture a EVP. If we do, we will let you know.
Orbs
Orbs, many think they are little balls of light believed to be energy from ghosts that show up in photographs and videos. However G.P.P.S. believes that orbs are simply a camera lens that is dirty, bugs flying around, or even dust which is not even close to being paranormal. Ethically, G.P.P.S. cannot prove that orbs are little balls of ghostly energy, so therefore we do not even consider any so-called orbs that show up in our photos and footage as evidence.

Residual Haunting
There are many different types of haunting, the two main ones are intelligent and residual haunting. We will discuss residual haunting in this segment.
Residual haunting is one of the most common paranormal occurrences when it comes to the various types of haunting. Residual haunting is best explained in a metaphor. Let's say you are watching a movie and the tape or DVD starts skipping and replaying the same scene over and over again. This is what residual haunting is, it is a span in time that replays itself over and over again. The nice thing is, there is no need to be afraid because it will occur regardless if anyone is there and it will not interact with you, no matter what you do, it will not change the outcome. So you just have to let it run it's course and let it play through the scene. Residual haunting may not even consist of deceased people, it may just be sounds like conversations or music, or it could be places that are no longer there like houses or rooms decorated to what it once looked like. Residual haunting could really be anything that can be recorded.
There has been many theories behind what may cause residual haunting. One is if porous stone such as lime stone or granite is near or on the location where the residual haunting occurs. These stones are known to gather energy from its surroundings and in return can release that energy back into nature that can result in residual haunting. It's natures record player so to speak. Another theory is that of water that is nearby like a well, lake or pond. It is said to be a transmitter for energy and in return can release that energy to the surrounding areas and can potentially cause residual haunting. Again, these are only theories so they may or may not be considered fact. Hopefully someday there will be scientific evidence to back these theories up.
I hope this gives you a better understanding of residual haunting. Keep an eye on our findings and maybe we will catch some evidence on residual haunting.
